Session Description: What do we know about how students define personal learning environments? Does this change over time? How do PLEs contribute to the development of learning competencies? Are PLEs effective without educational reform? What’s your role in supporting the development of personal learning environments?
In a twist on a panel presentation – we’ll attempt to address these five questions related to PLEs from a student development perspective.

Co-Presenter: Cindy Underhill
Co-Presenter Bio: Cindy Underhill is a Learning Resource Designer with UBC’s Office of Learning Technology and collaborates on a variety of projects related to the development of web based resources to support learners. She’s interested in the application of social web approaches to support learning – wherever it happens.
Co-Presenter: Zack Lee
Co-Presenter Bio: After studying the chaotic world of International Relations at UBC, Zack stumbled his way into design and marketing at the UBC Office of Learning Technology.
Co-Presenter: Andre Malan
Co-Presenter Bio: Andre is a South African student studying Computer Science at the University of British Columbia. His passions in life are learning, technology and human-computer interaction.
Co-Presenter: Angeli dela Rosa
Co-Presenter Bio:Angeli dela Rosa is graduating from the faculty of Arts at UBC with a major in Political Science and minor in Critical Studies in Sexuality. She began her foray into e-learning by providing a student voice for the LEAP project , an online portal supporting undergraduate learning at UBC. She is passionate about introducing friends and colleagues to the wonderful world of Web 2.0, and has co-presented several interactive workshops on using emerging technologies to improve collaboration and team communication. Her favourite webcomic is xkcd.
