Session Title: EXVR EXPO – Finalist Project

Location: Rm. 185, Irving K. Barber Learning Centre (IKBLC)

Session Description: An annual 3D Science Fair Competition, entitled the EXVR EXPO (Extreme Virtual Reality Exposition) is held where local high-school students build a 3D computer model and present the Scientific and Technological specifications and applications of it to a panel of academic and industrial judges. The candidates are judged on the accuracy of their model and their background science/technical information. These students are getting engaged in Science and Technology very early on with the help of computer 3D visualization. Some of the software they use includes Google SketchUp, Blender, MLCAD among others.

Co-Presenter Bio: I am currently a 12th grade student at École secondaire Macdonald Cartier. I plan to go to Laurentian University in the Mechanical Engineering program. I am an avid guitar player, play lots of sports, hunt, fish and I work at Kelly Lake building supplies in Sudbury, Ontario.

Co-Presenter: Yannick Bourret

Co-Presenter Bio: I am a Collège Boreal 3rd Year Graduate from Computer Technology Engineering. I am currently employed at MIRARCO as an ExtremeVR Tech Support, Virtual Reality Programmer Technician and Pilot. I am open for questions and always looking for new partnerships in a similar field.

Co-Presenter: Marc-Andre Simard

Co-Presenter Bio: I’m a grade 12 student at École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier and I’m planning to attend the University of Waterloo next year in Systems Design engineering.

Co-Presenter: Jane Djivré

Co-Presenter Bio: Jane Djivré has been involved in youth education and outreach initiatives for over 15 years.  A B.Sc. and M.B.A. education has facilitated her desire to help youth discover their passion, currently through MIRARCO’s unique 3D virtual reality technology and various outreach initiatives.  Her work experiences include research, product development, training and support in scientific, social science and commerce applications, as well as consulting and sales. Jane enjoyed a seven-year stint at McDonald’s, worked at Laurentian University, and helped to develop a software-based accident costing tool. At MIRARCO Jane serves in business development and as a grant officer.  Her most enjoyable moments are spent laughing with her sister and mother, playing trumpet, and working with others to make positive changes in the community.
